DESCRIPTION:Foto: Ebru Yildiz\n\n\n\n\nHailing from Brooklyn\, Shilpa Ray’s unique sound blends a DIY punk and experimental sounds with deep\, caustic and socially engaged lyrics\, a dark rock soul that fuses with an Indian Harmonium and her powerful and biting voice. Her music has been compared to the likes of Blondie\, The Cramps\, Patty Smith bringing on stage an enthralling live show. She was personally picked by Nick Cave as support for his European tour dates tour and recorded also with him.  \n\n\n\nÜber ihr neues Album “Portrait of a Lady sagt sie: „A few years ago I stumbled upon a Nan Goldin exhibit featuring her photos from The Ballad of Sexual Dependency and it shook me to my core. It made me reflect on my own experiences with sexual assault and abuse as well as the media explosion that has resulted from the #metoo movement. Portrait Of A Lady is not necessarily a political record as it is a personal one\, showing the good\, the bad and the ugly\, as well as the power one can ultimately hold being a survivor.” \n\n\n\nMusically\, it draws from 80’s surrealism and French New Wave – taking synths\, beats\, guitar and vocal influences from early Ministry\, Billy Idol\, Pat Benetar\, Francoise Hardy and LA hair metal. \n\n\n\nQUITTER ist ein ganzes Sammelsurium an gitarrenzersetzter Elektronik. Effizient\, könnte man sagen. Man könnte auch entgegnen\, dass Post-Punk im Spätkapitalismus nun mal so ist. Den be- und zersingt der Mainzer Luca Zink auf seiner Debütsingle „Optimierung“ mit kaum überhörbarem Defätismus in der Stimme.  \n\n\n\nUnd dennoch bahnt sich ein Funken Hoffnung den Weg  durchs Grau – die Vereinsamung ist noch nicht vollendet\, die Optimierung noch nicht total. Was Molchat Doma die Ekstase\, was Future Islands die Theatralik ist\, ist QUITTER die Widerspenstigkeit. Vorbei an Neuer Neue Deutsche Welle und Dark Wave ist QUITTER kein trendgerecht vorkonfektionierter Hypetrain\, der nur noch fährt\, wenn die Strecke sich auch lohnt.  \n\n\n\nQUITTER geht dahin wo‘s wehtut\, verletzlich und ergebnisoffen.
